snowflakes riding the wind--some mounted on empty catkinsfrom the willow
quiet nightdisturbed only by the ringingin my ears
oh, to lack fear,to once again be childlike --bold, adventuresome
early Styx --i like II, Equinox, Crystal Ball,but others I've missed
beside the highwaytwo deer eat brown grasswhere snow used to be
Spring riverfinds some of Winter's iceharder to swallow
Spring dusts my world with snowlike a baker hidingimperfections
early Spring bringswarm damp days that stimulate wormsto aerate the soil
orange cat observesas Spring's first robinbounces around the yard
starlings foragein the front yardwhere the tulips will be
the wind whistlesa vaguely familiar tunemy phone can't identify
A nation bowsbefore its leader, as if to say,"Rape me again."
i shall nevertruly see the moon -- even fullit's only half
little black houseflybuzzing and bumping the ceiling and walls --Spring must be near
natural pond--catfish scavenge for foodlay eggs in crevices
disturbing memoriesof days in San Antoniowhen moths attacked
cold morningswrapped in a blanketdreaming of coffee
i didn't like licoriceas a kid -- it grew on melike bourbon
lying on the groundi feel the earthwormsaerating the soil
fat squirrelon the porch eating rock salt--a crow caws
