I was in Saco, Maine, at Ferry Beach, in September 2024. As I walked the beach, I watched a seagull retrieve a clam, so I pulled out my phone and shot some footage.
This haiku is based on that footage. It doesn’t necessarily represent truth, but more the truth as it could have happened, because in my reality the seagull did not lose his clam dinner!
I set the footage to the song The Elf Knight by Vermont singer-songwriter Fern Maddie, because (1) I love Fern Maddie’s music, and (2) The Elf Knight was the right length for the video.
