I never realized how much Sinead O’Connor meant to me until I heard she’d died.
Of course, I always loved her version of Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U”. And I loved her tearing up the pope’s photo on Saturday Night Live. But I never gave Sinead her full due in my life.
I know she had an impact, a lasting one, on me, because when I appeared on the hit YouTube improv show “Dadurday Night Live!” in 2020, I paid tribute to her by tearing a photo of the then American president.
I will remedy that by spending time with her records, the ones I haven’t heard, which will hopefully be more available now.
