sunday morning sunday night
wednesday night for years
never again
NOTES
I was raised by my parents as an independent Baptist. That is not Southern Baptist! (My parents would be pleased with the exclamation point there, because it was important to them.)
Apparently independent Baptists broke off from Southern Baptists, because they just wanted to listen to God, not to an organization like the Southern Baptist Convention, about where they should go to carry the Word.
This is all moot to me at this point, because I abandoned the notion of “God” too many years ago to count.
But the fact is, during the course of a week, I was at church on Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday evening. And often in between for other gatherings or when special preachers came to town.
I didn’t much appreciate all the church, but it was a social outlet for me, so church was good in that way. In fact, when I was a kid, most of my friends were church friends, not school friends.
