i hear the wind
but i don’t feel the wind:
the trees protect me
NOTES
I am sitting in our small A-frame camper in Strong, Maine, USA. Fálki and the cats and I are staying on a plot of land the owner rents out via Hipcamp.
<affiliate link brag> I love Hipcamp (affiliate link). It allows us to stay in off-the-beaten-path places and avoid the congestion of RV parks. Many of the landowners on Hipcamp are just that — landowners. They have land they own just sitting there, and they figure they might as well let people use it, and pick up a little money in exchange.
Many of the Hipcamp spots we have used have electric and water available. Often the electric is just 15- or 20-amp lines — regular household electricity — but this one has a 30-amp plug, which is what we use for our camper in RV parks. Fyi, the other electric hookup I’m familiar with for camping is 50-amp, which is used by larger RVs. We easily also are able to use a 50-amp plug with an adapter we carry with us. </affiliate link brag>
Anyway, as I started to say, I’m sitting in our small A-frame camper in Strong, Maine, USA, and the wind is howling. The trailer, however, is not rocking at all, and I can attest that when sitting in the wind, this trailer rocks (although it fortunately does not also roll).
We are in a clearing about 50 feet wide, and surrounded by tall trees, 30- and 40-foot trees. And not just one row of trees, but layers of them.
The wind cannot touch us.
