geese honk overhead
as winter’s final snowfall
covers budding fields
NOTES
I rewrote this for Bluesky to better fit the prompt “warm sun”:
winter’s final snowfall
lightly coats the streets and fields
as geese honk overhead
DISCLAIMER: I don’t tend to literally use creative prompts in my work. As a theatrical improviser, I was taught to get a prompt from the audience, and then A to C it. That is to say, the prompt, A, makes me think of B, which makes me think of C. As the creative prompts at Bluesky, as well as from improv audiences, tend to be drawn from a shallow pool, repeated often, I find that the A to C method works well to inspire creativity.
In this case, the prompt was “warm sun”, which made me notice that, even though it’s snowing, the snow is melting on contact with the earth, if not sooner.
